Awakening
Three stone heads awaken atop a massive table-top mountain. Slowly turning, they embrace the light of dawn peeking above a distant planet and its two moons.
This is a logo reveal for our animation studio/artist collective, Brain Fluid Studios. The three stone heads represent the founders: Fernando Yanes, Nestor Tomaselli and Fanny Vicencio.

Sketches and
Variations
Initially, we tried animating the heads frame by frame since we wanted to keep the unique painterly style everything else had.
However, that quickly became a struggle because trying to animate their very subtle rotation produced noticeable line wiggles, making them feel less solid.
So we turned to 3D…
The Stone Heads
We were able to work with an incredible toon shader in Blender, created by the geniuses at Lightning Boy Studio. We now had complete control over every aspect of the stone heads and allowed us to maintain a cohesive style throughout the piece.

The Hieroglyph
The Brain Fluid logo is what the entire animation revolves around. It is meant to be an otherworldly, yet ancient, symbol. It is a marriage of two of our favorite genres in storytelling: Fantasy and Science-Fiction.
Inspired by the Eye of Horus of ancient Egypt symbolism as a way of grounding the overall design, we then pushed it to form the shape of an elongated, alien brain with two pupils inside.
